Youtube clip of rear suspension corrector (Xantia) in action

Unread post by RoadkillUK »

I've been trying to research the action of the rear suspension corrector but didn't really find any video or that many pictures of the part itself, so this Saturday I recored some video that you may find useful (but cetainly not exciting).

Also, I believe that the corrector is sticking! (note the foot action).

All the best, Lee. :D

FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC!

Nice one... That clearly shows exactly WHAT the Height Corrector gets blamed for!!!

Its not the height corrector its the linkages.. I beleve the Xantia is the only model that featured this complex stupid setup...

The BX nor XM didn't get it.. and I assume the CX or GS didn't either..

Yup you can clearly see the link sticking on the return - or lowering..

Seen this many a time.. IF you listen carefully, you can (NOT in the video) hear the linkage "Twang" as it jumps....

It most certainly does 'twang', I'm back under there this weekend as I confirmed that the exhaust has holes in it, so I will be replacing that. I'll have another go at freeing it while I'm there.

might be a silly question but does this control front and rear or just rear height?

This is just the rear height corrector, there is another similar one at the front, just behind the engine, you can see it from underneath the car.

Right, I've been back under and changed my exhaust.

While I was under there I decided to take a close look at the height corrector and realised that the 'mechanical' part can be removed without undoing the hydraulics. So I removed it (easy job really) and freed up the mechanism as much as possible and fitted it back on. Job Done :)

Is there any chance you could take another video, to see if it's improved?? Cheers!
