Hi there
Just wondering if any other C5 owners had encountered noisy (worse than a squeak not as bad as a grating noise!!) hinges on both the rear doors (Mine's a 2007 1.6 Hdi VTR).
The problem seems to come from the middle ?dogleg? hinge which runs into the door and the body of the car. Both hinges look a bit rusty but the inevitable skoosh of WD40 doesn't seem to have made much difference.
Looks like the mechanism is held on by 2 star headed bolts going into the body and 2 nuts fastening the bolts which secure the mechanism into the door.
Has anybody taken this off and greased the mechanism thoroughly, if so is there anything I should watch out for?
Cheers

Re: C5 Facelift: Noisy hinges on rear doors
My Mk1 used to do this and after WD 40 I would then use some spray grease. My mk2 is beginning to do it also.lucklesspedestrian wrote:Hi there

My in-law's Picasso also did it, and I think my Saxo did too. Must be a Citroen thing.
In the C5 water seems to run down the door so I guess this is where it gets the damp from.

That thing is the door stop, and it disappears inside the door.
My rear driver’s side door has a gritty sound and feel to it, and I’ve had that on previous non-Citroen cars.
Squirting the visible outside pivot and door hinges made no difference.
Squirting inside with the curved tip of the spaghetti didn’t reach the rollers inside the door.
Removing the two nuts on the door looks like it may cause the lot to fall inside.
Haven’t taken a rear door card off yet, but did it at the front and saw that reaching the stop mechanism needs partial removal of the waterproofing seal.

Cover liberally with grease, WD40 is not a long term lubricant. I'm rather a stickler for well greased door hinges, can't stand doors which don't close with a gentle push.
Once greased it will get better each time you open/close the door.
