A Potential New, genuine'ish Ram Bush :)

Unread post by CitroJim »

There appears to be an alternative ram bush available :D

Take a look at this Danish Forum Thread

I've not yet been able to check price.availability of this bush in the UK yet but if it's available and cheap than we have an answer to our prayers :D

Those Danes, Eh?
Love the innovation of lifting the car onto piles of pallets with two forklifts. I don't think I'd like mine handling that way though :(

Might have to get Anders on the job :)

WFT!? Is that what you call it Steve - "innovation"...
I'd say more suicidal spannering for sure.

T'would appear that the part no: 4059.10 is a bonded joint used in the steering rams on AX and Saxo. Listed at 8.70 inc VAT. Not sure this has enough movement to not put stress elsewhere on this ram. Possibly mounting eye failure?

The rose joint, theoretically, is a good compromise but it will suffer the same problem that the original bushing suffers from, dirt and water ingress. A nice lethal mixture that will grind away the components in a very short space of time.

I do have a solution currently on test that alleviates the problem. Not saying much more, as I am waiting for the design registration to complete, but I will let you all know in due course and it will be an affordable component.

If Anders cannot provide a translation of this article, I will try and persuade my sister-in-law to do it, as she speaks fluent Danish. Has to, she is married to a Dane.

The only Danish word I know is "sizzle". :P Get it?
