how to remove xantia mk2 front bumper

HI
As title, i have read the hbl and that covers the mk1, i belive there are bolts behind the fog lights but i cant remone the fog lights till the bumpers off ???

Remembering back to Juliet's, it's the same as S1, row of small 10mm bolts along the bottom, then one on each side up behind the wing (13mm I believe), and the torx and the tips.
Then just give it a good pull forward to pop the two large studs out of their holes in the front of the car.

From memory I think you'll find there is a bolts on the inner wing behind the wheel arch liner and a screw pointing upward on each side, then a few nuts on the underside, can't remember how many and then some along the front but I think you may need to remove the headlights and fan grille to get to them. It's not too bad of a job considering.

If you just need to remove it to change the foglamp bulbs then don't as you can get to them just by removing the headlamps.

I gave up trying to get the bumper off to replace a fog lamp glass, in the end I managed it without.

Was a lot more flexible in those days though.

Mine doesn't have screws behind the fogs but it does have a hidden screw behind the silver trim near the wheel arch. Quite heavy bumper I thought, considering it's made of plastic.

One does have to first remove or at least partially undo and fold back, the wheelarch liner. That's 10mm heads from memory.

Three 10mm heads under the bumper bottom lip, the Torx screws pointing up in each trailing corner of the bumper top edge - then unclip the bumper "wings". Feel for the inner bolts, IIRC 13mm heads and the threads point away from the engine bay, horizontally.

Remember to unclip the foglamp harness plug before drawing the bar forwards.

Access to the bolt heads is got from behind the oval bungs in the inner wing mudshields. A 133mm ratchet spanner is the only really practical tool to use on these as there's only a limited swing available through the access hole.

Before you undo them, spray their threads liberally with Plus Gas and go easy. The thread ends will be rusty and if you try too hard the captive nut in the bumper end will tear out and then you have a world of pain on your hands...

If you have headlamp washers, disconnect the feed pipe at the quick-release connector also accessible from the OS mudshield bung before pulling the bumper forward.

Sorry for the mis-information about 13mm bolt "direction". Post will be edited.

FWIW on those two I use a stubby ratchet, but ours are never rusty.

I was going to replace the bumper but the one i wanted has sold, but i want to change the front drivers fog light how do you get them off without taking the bumper off ?

You can gain a certain amount of access by removing the headlamp, certainly enough to change the bulb and maybe enough to remove the complete fog lamp.
