C5 spark plugs 1.8

Post by birksy »

Is it worth replacing the sparks with iridium ones or is there a negligible difference on this sort of engine?

Not worth the expense and won’t make a difference.
Electronic ignition sparks through anything and current ordinary plugs last 40,000 miles.
If the car always starts on four cylinders, the plugs are good.

The underside of the bonnet has a panel at the front with the original plug type.
Mine says Bosch FGR8ME for the 2 litre engine.
There are other plug makes, and it’s no sin to use them.

Ta very much. That's sorted.

It's easy to be all overcome with techy babble but in the real world I doubt that the sparkers would make anything but an ever so slight effect on economy (and certainly never enough to justify the cost) in a standard engine/car.
