xantia key fob micro switch replacement

Post by nick19800 »

Basically I've just bought the Xantia with a few niggly problems and I thought the battery in the fob was dead as it didn't work but I also realised there was no feel to the buttons, so I took it all apart and it appears that there should be 2 micro switches there after scanning the web, but I cant seem to find any info on the exact switches, what they look like, where they go and how there fitted?
Has anybody got any pictures or part numbers of the switches as I found these on ebay but not 100% there the right ones.

Also this is a picture of the key from an advert that wants to charge me £26 for the 2 switches fitted!!

Nick,

I went to a local electronic shop and the owner solder a new micro switch onto the circuit board. It work fine after that.

S2 PLIPs have this as a common problem - the reason for this is the switch's are surface mounted with no "Back Support". Theres NO pins going through the circuit board to help hold the switch's in place.

Now with S2 PLIPs as theres a momentry delay between pressing the button and the car unlocking, so owners are the resorting to pressing FAR too hard, hence then the switch breaks of the board...

The other breakage cause is being rough with the PLIP and thrown around etc etc...

Thanks for all your reply's, I beleive mine is a mk 2 as its a 1999 model and theres no led on the fob so it must be an RF.

Yeah the switches are completely missing so I had no idea as to what they look like or where they go.

I sent a message to the person selling these and he reckons these are not the ones for my key so I'm leaning towards the fact it must ones in my original post.

I must agree Nick, they ARE NOT for your plip... They look like the switch is facing UPWARDS when solderd to the board.. were as you need the switch on the SIDE when mounted...

as Paul says and going by the way this thread has gone,

the switch's in you picy look like they mount with the button faceing the wrong direction,

even though the seller says they they fit the XANT plip, i think the sitch's shown are probaly just for show and not the actual switch's the guy fits to your remote, as it seems he is offering a repair service,

also the switch's in the item i postted the item No. for are for a MK1 IR plip,

Just bunging my two-bobs-worth in this thread, as it will come up better for others, with a search...

Plip (X2) repaired by resoldering cracked joints where positive battery "holder" mounts through circuit board. Resync'd and all good.
