Anti Sink is sinking

Post by mongoose100 »

Hoping to have some light shed for me,
Have replaced the 4 corner spheres, will be getting on to the others at a slightly later date.

Since owning car, have noticed that when doors are opened a few times while engine off (or left open), the car sinks down on its haunches, however, it will stay up if nothing is opened.

Is this normal, or do I have a problem somewhere?

Thanks.
Regan.

Sounds like a Hydractive block or electrovalve is sticking... and the anti sink valves are weak.

The actuall anti sink valves are a mechanical device, one on the side of the centre sphere bracket in a sort on K shape - or a round body with 4 pipes comming out of it.. the other at the front is under the LHM tank....

These open and close depending on curcuit pressure. When the pressure is up they open, when it drops they close. IE: Pump running or not.

Have you changed the hydractive centre spheres?
Sounds to me like when you open the doors and the hydractive valves open the pressure within the hydractive system is not enough to keep the anti-sink valves closed.
How soft does the car's suspension feel?

Haven't changed centre ones yet, however car feels very soft on road and firms up quite nicely when cornering in sport mode...

Paul, could it be an internal leak in elevtrovalves so when they're activated with the door opening they let LHM flow back to the resevoire, dropping the pressure so the A/S valves open?

Regan, what's your accumulator tick rate at the front of the engine?
Should be more than 30 seconds between ticks/clicks

Timed the regulator today, 35 seconds roughly.

After about an hour of sitting, the STOP light illuminates for about 15 seconds on startup, about 30 seconds from a cold start

Mine does this and it's the electrovalve at fault. I know this as it started doing after I replaced the valve with a used one which I should have pulled to bits and serviced at the time but was on a time limit due to an impending road trip.

If you put the suspension on high and open the tailgate or doors and it still sinks then that kind of proves it.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

Changed Front accumulator today as well as both front and rear electrovalves, car still sinking when doors open.

HOWEVER, when on high, ONLY the front drops...

Other thing is, if it is sitting on high with engine off and I select normal or low, I am greated with a machine gun type sound and down she goes... Normal?

Thats the anti sink valve passing. Cant remember if itxwas this topic or another but i said somewhere from the start it will be faulty anti sink valves..... Nothing else! Theres two of them. One at the rear on the side of the anti sink sphere bracket, it has 5 pipes going into it and the other is under the lhm tank. The valve is giving way to lhm hence the noise......

Ps. I did mention above the anti sink valves.. A clue in the name ;-) ;-) :-) :-)

Are the anti sink valves a serviceable item or should they just be replaced?

Pass. Im not that particular about sinking. Citroens should! As long as she rises again when the engine runs.

As for the anti sink vale it looks like a solid unit - ive not heard of them being servicable i guess a swap is easyer....
