C6 one day

Post by citroenxm »

Hey all... nothing serious.. just a chat..

I was browsing the "Cool Pictures" thread in the Blogs and Gallaries section, when I stumbled across a C6 picture...

All of a sudden I hear from my good ladie.. Oh WOW, thats Ding Dong... :D  ... Id even have that instead of an Audi! :o

I nearly fell off my chair! So, I did a look up for the newer 3.o HDi 24v model, thought its 234bhp or so, the road tax is HALFish the 2.7, at 238 quid a YEAR.... rather then 420 odd...

I asked her again, and she insisted, now that WOULD make a good family car...

Soo... I guess I better start saving now.. :? 8-)

Yes, I will have a C6 one day !! Like Citroenmad it will probably be a 2.2 HDI and for an unusual reason, dealer recommendation !

This was the result of a conversation I had with the sales manager of my local Cit dealership when I was in for some bits recently.
They had a superb C6 in and as I was drooling over it this chap came over thinking he had a prospect ! I put him right immediately but said that I would have one some day, a 2.7 HDI. He shook his head and said "take my tip and have a 2.2 HDI, almost as good on performance, much better on fuel, much easier to service and repair and the magic words, twin turbo" !!
That was it for me, 2.2 HDI twin turbo it is !
Now using '00 Xantia LX HDI, pov spec :(

And me... I detest the 2.7, its not a PSA be heart engine!

But, have any 2.2's been sold yet?? Or 3.o's even??

Sadly for me Chloé does not like the looks of the C6 at all! :(

Ill have to work on her, she is coming round to the idea of the cx though, thank goodness ive only had it a year.....
She still says whats the point of having an old car if its not a Ds though, and im not allowed anything else untill we have a Ds!

Still a C6 will be mine one day im sure......

Curious the minds of women, I don't see how ANY non hatchback could / can be considered to be a good family car.
The lack of the fifth door was one of the reasons the last CX went and is one of the reasons why I am unlikely to purchase a C5 III, better described as a C5.5 IMHO as it's well on it's way to being a C6 at least in Exclusive trim.

Mind if I was to have one then it would be the 2.2 for all the (well most of !) the reasons stated. I do quite fancy a C5 II with one although the logical side of the brain says that anything over a 110 BHP is a waste on Britains roads today.

i'd be happy with 420 road tax, over here it costs me €620 for a 2.0, a 2.7 would be €1164 and a 3.0 would be €1293 and any thing over 3.0 is €1566, the 2.2 would be €823, that's why there is few 2.2s over here

The Facts (according to Citroen)

The 3.0i V6 petrol engine delivers 215 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 214lb.ft of torque at 3,750.

The 2.7HDi V6 diesel engine delivers 208bhp at 4,000 rpm and 325lb.ft of torque at 1,900rpm.

The 2.2HDi diesel engine delivers 173 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 273lb.ft of torque at 1,500 rpm

I travel between Preston and Warrington most days and I average 32.9 over 10,000 miles this includes country lanes, major roads and motorways, on the motorway Ihave got get 47 mpg out of the C6 and bearing in mind that this is a 2.7 with an auto box, I don't think it's to bad...

Yep, 2.2 173 HDi is the only one id have in the C6, as id like a manual gearbox and the increased MPg would be nice. You could also easily tune it up to 2.7 perforamnce figures, or close to.

The 2.2 has been on sale for a while and does sell, obvious by the smaller wheels and the lip spoiler on the boot lid - I think thats instead of the electronic spoiler?

There are often a few 2.2s at CCC events, i think i counted atleast 4 at last years National.

Ive had a quick drive of a 2.2 173 C5II, that was really nice, impressive engine.

I have to say that Trainman's C6 impressed the hell out of me.
It was far and away superior to the X5 I was in a couple of days ago.

It was quite funny, watching Steve's face when he hit the brakes, I nearly had a sunroof, where there wasn't one before

...if you can get one - do! :D
I absolutely love our C6, and dad said he won't be parting with it for a long while and will only part with it to upgrade to the 3.0.

An old family friend came over from Tenerife the other week who was heavily into Citroens (CXs and XMs), and he adored the C6 - there's only one on the island! It is the CX replacement for sure.

Couldn't resist a pic:
