405 under dash groaning noise??

Post by patanga »

Hi.. I have a recently aquired 405 SRDT that has thrown a few curve balls at me in my efforts to put it back on the road. One that I am less concerned about but none the less curious about is a cyclic groaning type noise from under the left side of the dash (a RHD car). I am presuming that it has something to do with the air cond or climate control system. Any thoughts. Cheers.

Could it be the cabin air mixture (temperature) control valve with stripped gears?

Thanks for your thoughts addo. I can't say I am familiar with the under dash systems as yet. Would anyone have a photo of the cabin air mixture (temp control valve) and or know its location under the left side of the dash? Is it common for these to strip gears on this model? Assuming it is the gears, is the unit repairable?

The blower fan is located under the glove box, could be that? Remove the carpet panel from under the glovebox and it drops down with a couple of bolts.
