Mass Air Flow Meters!!!

Hi!

:?: Looking on here I've read lots and lots about these MAF Thingys, and how important it is to buy a good quality OE one rather than from fleabay, but as these things are three figures and I've got tax and MOT to sort out at the end of this month, can anyone point me in the direction of a DIY guide for reconditioning the things?

I'm a trained electronics engineer used to dismantling and reconditioning circuit boards with small surface-mount components by the way!!!

Failing this, if they're of sealed non-repairable construction, is there a Bosch Part Number I can look online for the best price for? :?:

I cant comment on reconditioning ...

We bought a C5 which had just had a cheapo MAF fitted by a Citroen specialist. After living with it fr a bit the car was slow and uneconomical, as if the MAF had failed. We bought a new genuine Citroen one and the car was transformed.

Should be possible.
My local parts guy is an electronics engineer, worked for the RAF and Intel among others and is disgusted at the cost of the MAFs. Replacement parts are a thermistor and a bit of platinum wire.
Getting the right thermistor and wire may not be that simple.

Sometimes, a good spraying with 'electrical contact cleaner' makes them as good as new again. (DONT use WD40, or anything else)
