Indicator + lights fault!

Ive just been outside attempting to ready the cx for its MOT on tuesday.
One of the previous fails was the indicator switch.

When the main lights are on the right hand indicator light stays on, as do the right hand indicators!

Ive had the switches apart and everything seems hunky dory inside.
Does anyone have any idea where i should be looking?

I believe it's the switch I'm afraid; I've seen this before and complete
replacement is the answer I found worked for me. I guess if you think
about it, all the issues you have are in that one localised area so it could
be the earth but heavens knows where in the switch.

Just one other thought when I'm here; a relay usually cycles the indicator.
Is the left selection working OK?

Got to be the switch!

That was my first thought, but the indicators work work fine with the lights turned off. And as they are seperate switches how would the light switch turn the indicators on? This is why i thought perhaps it was somewhere else on the system

Damn this car. Methinks the fail list is going to be veryyy long.

*Think* I found the problem, when doing some work in the boot, i accidently hacked through part of the cable going to the towbar, i had a look at this and corrected the short circuits and hey presto the lights and indicators work seperatly!

Next i need to gaffa tape the sunroof, how crap is that going to look

...not the first - also, I've seen CXs where people have filled the openings over with P38 filler!

hmm tres interesant.

Seriously though i think the only viable option would be to eventually re roof it.
Gues it depends whether i fall in love with the car, or hanker for the comfort of the xm...

Bathroom silicone or acrylic sealant? I love sunroofs though so would prefer
metal is there doing it's job!!

Great call on the towbar wiring earlier - course it makes perfect sense
when you know the punchline!
