Car shakes / vibrates while braking. Any help pls?

Post by superiorzbg »

Hi, My car vibrates at around 80kms and also the break pedal pulsate a bit. I have bought new front and rare rotors, machined them and also replaced the break pads and the rear shoes. But still it is happening.

Also I have noticed that when pulling the handbrake at 80kms, it will increase the vibration and makes the car shakes.

What would it be causing this problem?

It's a citroen xsara 1999 1.4l

I've taken it to the mechanic and he took a look at it. but he still didn't managed this cause. He said that it's difficult to determine these types of problems. He has changed the master cylinder as it was leaking, but the same problem still exists.

you can usualy tell warpped disc's as they might look blue'ish were they have over heated through binding,

just because the tyres are new doesn't mean they are balanced or not buckled

could be bad rear discs and or balancing, a lot of tyre fitters don't balance the rears

ohh yea the rear wheels aren't balanced. I was thinking if the wheel spacers (i have them on rear only) will make any of these symptoms?

According to the topic "Car shakes / vibrates while braking" and above quote symptoms,
I would suggest that the brake caliper might be the reason.
Solution: apply brake caliper grease.

Here's a pic which I posted in another thread ( #1 is the caliper):

Thanks, would try some of the solutions tomorrow by first test it without the spacers.
