socket size xantia rear wheel spindle

I'm just about to do a rear wheel bearing replacement on my Xantia.
Does anyone know the size of the socket I'll need for the spindle nut please?

It seems to be a 30mm nut.

Just a thought but 30X1.5 sounds a lot more like a thread spec rather than a nut size. I would anticipate a nut size of 36 or 38 mm A/F.

Second one (since RPO No. 08337) is given as M30X150.
I guess both are M30 nuts.
(Edit: 30mm is the diameter and threads 1.5. I guess this caused the confusion.)

If my memory serves me right, the socket size should be 41 but I'm not 100% sure for that

A 41mm socket certainly does the job - that's what I used for mine.

Although it might actually be a 40mm nut.

The nut is 40mm, but 41mm sockets are more common and many people seem to use them without incident.

Last summer I remember measuring the bearing nut when I checked the grease condition.
I have not changed mine, both are still originals but they won't last forever

The site search can be a bit pants really but if you presevere can find
things you want eventually. Steve has now moved that thread; I posted
a similar request on the actual "how too" thread as well.

One thing to watch on the replacement bearing is getting the correct ABS
bearing as it's all in one and there are x2 differing numbers of teeth on
the ring so be careful with the correct replacement - ebay buyer beware,
certainly with the early s1's!!

When the hub is pulled off, is the inner race always left on the axle?
For example, is there any chance that you can get the rear bearing as a whole, from a scrap car?

All done 1.5 hrs.. yes the inner is well and truly stuck there and wouldn't come off with a puller so I had to carefully grind it off.
