407 Cruise Control

Unread post by fatbugger »

Hi everyone
Been absent from the forum for a while as I foolishly defected to V**xhall for a while. However I am now returned with a gleaming 1.6 HDI 110 BHP SW SE 407. Still getting used to it as I only got it last Thursday. It's a 2005 but came from a family friend with full main dealer history from new. It is immaculate inside and out as the previous owner is fanatical about his cars. My question if anyone can answer is the car does not have cruise control. It appears the place on the left hand side of the column where the cruise switch would fit is just blanked off. Could it be possible the wiring is there to fit the switch? Would it need clutch and brake switches? Would it need setting up by dealer? is it worth it? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

Welcome back to the forum!

I would have thought it should have had cruise control, being an SE. SE has alloys yes?

Though it might be absent on the 1.6 HDi.

It is easily fitted, buy the stalk, plug it in (it goes directly into the Comms unit, no wires are needed) and enable it via a Lexia.

It should already have the clutch and brake light switch in, some early C5s didnt (basically the same electronics) but later ones did, so the 407 certainly should have.

All 4 of our C5s have it, its a huge bonus, id not be without it now.

Hi Chris
Thanks for the help. It's definitely an SE has everything inc alloy wheels except sat nav and cruise. Not too bothered about sat nav as have a tom tom unit anyway but cruise would be good. Where would I find someone with a Lexia in the Birmingham area? would I have to go to Peugeot?

Whether it can be fitted will depend upon the ECU/BSi software, for instance I added cruise to my 2004 2.0 Hdi Berlingo by fitting the switch and re-programming with a Lexia but with my 2005 1.6 HDi Berlingo it couldn't be done.

Was the 2005 Berlingo ever available with cruise Richard?

I thought the majority of 407s, apart from the S came with cruise control. Every model of C5II apart from the LX does, and the electronics and comms units are identical, or so I thought.

It would be worth getting hold of a stalk and trying it.

Not in the UK whereas the Peugeot Partner was, what I'm getting at is that whilst it may be possible don't take it for granted.

I have read your problem of fitting it your your Berlingo before, but had forgotten about it.

So there may well be a chance its not something which can be added.

Hi evertbody
An update on proceedings. I contacted Peugeot who supplied a cruise switch as per my chassis number which is both cruise and speed limiter. They told me this is the only one for my car. Fitted switch and a mate who has planet 2000 went in to ecu and bis? so cruise was activated. When he did it apparently said vehicle with cruise control only. When rotary switch is on speed limit there is only mileometer and trip mileage. when rotated to cruise there is symbol a bit like a clock and the word off and 3 dashes. Cruise will not work at all. Could it be I have been sold the wrong switch or has the plane man got to do something else?
any help please

Might be worth getting onto Peugeot about it, you might have the same hurdle that DickieG had above, it might not be equipped to have CC.

Then again, it might just be missing a secondary brake switch.

HI Chris

It was Peugeot who told me all I needed was the switch and programming in.
They claim to have done a search on the chassis number. I tried to speak to their service dept but they would not give info over phone. They just want me to book it in.

I wonder if the guy who programmed it didn't do it correctly.

It took ages to find the place where to activate cruise on my 04 C5 on the Lexia. It work straight away once we did though.

I think mine was in the injection section of Lexia, seemed a bit of an odd place. It was a bit like a maze to me, as id not seen one working before, only fault code checking. Really must invest in one.

Hi everyone.
Cruise control up and running at last. don't know what it was. Deactivated and reactivated exactly the same and now works fine. Speed limit function not working but can live without that. Loks like it is one of lifes mysteries.
