Xantia rear door catch

Xantia rear door catch

I cannot get my rear door to shut, push the door to and it does not click. The latch does not seem to stick when you push it with your finger.

Its done this twice now, and both times i had to sit there for 20 minutes just playing with it and it eventually stuck, but i went into auto mode today and opened the door :( . No joy this time, been playing with it for an hour almost and i need to drive my car, but cannot with a door that swinging open.

Any ideas or magical cure?

Had this on an Activa I bought from a forum member here and ultimately,
the cassette of the door mechanism needs complete replacement:

bit of a PITA but you need to do it to get the door to close and lock securely.
