1.9d berlingo ( dw8 ) engine - are they really slow

Post by barrydoran »

Hi,

This question is really regarding the 1.9d dw8 engine fitted to both the berlingo and Peugeot partner. The car in question is a peugeot partner.

My mothers car, just completed re-shimming the inlet valve's because it wouldn't start. Now it starts ok. However, its so slow. Have I timed it wrong? or are they just really crap?

No smoke runs fine, just so slow. rellay unacceptable.

Barry.

They are well down on power compared to the turbo but should pull reasonably well up to about 2500 rpm, you won't get much power after that though. If the timing was wrong it would either be difficult to start (retarded) or very noisy (advanced) changing the fuel filter might improve it.

I posted in your other topic in the Peugeot forum, but they are about 10% lower power compared to the XUD9 (I'm obviously comparing a N/A XUD to the DW8)

91 205D-Turbo, gone but still missed
02 106D, TUD5B, gone but not really missed apart from the MPG
