Hi Folks,
Just a small annoyance (I hope).I've noticed when the engine is running there appears to be what I would call a large tapping sound which reminds of when (many years ago) I had a MK3
1600 Escort (CVH engine) which had a very similar noise which turned out to be seized hydraulic tappets.
Now I believe ( I'm not familiar with the HDI) the HDI engine I have in the Picasso also has hydraulic tappets, correct me if I'm wrong.Could this be a similar scenario (siezed tappet(s) or
am i barking up the wrong tree and its more serious than this.Do these engines suffer a similar traits as the CVH in this respect?I have heard oil starvation in the oil gallery's up to the
tappets can cause an eventual tappet seizure.
The Engine has regular oil changes including filter and has covered 74K miles.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
regards Steve
