Are citroen's prone to being aquatic?

Post by steviewonder7 »

Hi folks,

Another thread regarding water inside of vehicle.

My Xsara picasso 2.0Hdi exclusive is suffering from intake of our lovely weather lately in that its filling up the stowage compartment in the floor

behind the driver seat  .Anybody got any ideas where it might be coming from before i have to invest in some scuba gear for me and the family. Was hoping for more sunnier climate before donning said scuba gear.

Anyway..seriously, where are the best places to look for this ingress of H2O in this design of car?Much help appreciated from those in the know.

thanks in advance to any replies

In my experience with Ford Galaxys the water comes into the car when the drainage channels around the car become blocked.
If you've got a sunroof then you've probably got channels there aswell as in the bulkhead.
Using some curtain wire to clean these out usually works.

I think its just a citroen thing to be sieve like.
I gave up trying to fight it and now rent a garage.

Thing is Dean, there's nothing in one to get wet any more as it's all out drying?
Well, in the Activa at least and I've seen pictures of the garaged Xm...

no, the Xm is an out door creature, i had a garage at my old flat but it wouldnt fit, the Activa is back together now too, just doing the cam belt......
I must admit though if we have a lot of rain i do open the door of the activa and give the carpets a pat down ......just incase

Sorry but it had to be done.

Have a look at door seals, try the front carpets as if they're anything like the Xantias, water could be coming in through the bit of plastic at the bottom of the windscreen, also try the other extreme and lift the boot carpet.

Dont forget the sunroof, the bonded windscreen, the speaker mountings in the doors, the heater matrix, the fan intake, the ariel, the roof rack mounts............
Xantia specific but all worth checking if you have water ingress.

 I recall Kev's aquatic adventure from the past!
Are the puddles that big down there in the Westcountry?

You need to fit white Esprit side fins as per JB Spy Who Loved Me
for the full effect!
