Xantia spheres and Citrobics

Post by Derekofpriory »

First post so please excuse errors due to ignorance.
Had a good day, all 6 spheres changed on our 99 2.0Hdi :D 10 am start back 3 before opening time Grapefruit and soda and a cheese sandwich, front 3 before 3pm, what a mess they made, tank off, drained, cleaned an refitted before dusk. Brakes to bleed Wednesday after work! My home made removal tool worked really well,(end of brag),Thanks to Citrojim and others for the instructions in pdf format, printed out and laminated, they will stay in the bol.
Now for a question, is there a defined set of citrobics to exercise the car or is it a free form art? :?
I have been going through the topics back to page 40 and couldn't find anything.
Thanks again,
Derek
our car spent Friday afternoon and Monday morning in the electrics area of the Factory!!

Fill kettle. Brew tea/coffee. Sit in car, engine running. Set suspension to high. Sip tea/coffee (biscuit optional). Wait til car has stabilised at max height. Wait a minute or so. Sip tea etc. Set suspension to low. Warning, car may lower suddenly at either end, so don't sip tea/coffee at this point. Once car has settled at lowest setting, resume sipping. Wait a minute or so, then set suspension to high and repeat the process a couple of times.

Jaffa cakes seem to help.

Yes, I agree, very comprehensive guide!

I usually do my Citrobatics in traffic jams, much to the amusement of the people in surrounding cars

Thing is our C5s still have brakes in low and are quite quick to lift too. Doing it in an Xm or Xantia takes a little more time

Did you check " Supersticky: forum for continually recurring questions" ?
There's a very informative thread ---> Spheres, Hydraflush and Brake Bleeding

Also I add this pic from a Citroen technical book.

( As a rule of thumb, start from longest physical distance between LHM tank <---> wheel. )

One more comment,
- I use a piece of wood/metal bar for "brake force" (between brake pedal and drivers seat front end).
Adjust the brake force by moving seat forward.

Just musing how you can balance 5 - 6 bags of sugar on the brake pedal! That's some skill.

One thing I don't understand and my mat edidn't explain at the weekend.

Does the pedal not go down to the floor then on a Citroen? Presumably this is because it is a pressured circuit? If so, brilliant being able to do a one-man bleed. It means you don't have to get married to bleed your brakes! :P

nope the pedal wont drop, all the pedal does is press a button which opens a fluid port to let fluid pump endlessly towards the callipers, marriage not needed
