Hi again,
When starting up, my Citroen sometimes (or shall I say always) will not engage reverse gear until after a few seconds. Is that something to do with waiting the suspention to rise. This only involves reverse gear and it only does it on start up (hot or cold). The car has done 49K miles. Also when reversing from the driveway and applying full steering lock there will be a noise (belt?)that disappers as soon as the steering is straight (or at least not in full lock). Any ideas will be much appreciated as I don't know much about these cars.
Thanks a lot!

The reverse is not syncronised - commonly a bit tricky to engage.
A good trick is to select 1. - then just barely release clutch - then again select reverse now usually more easy.
The problem is more noticeable with cold engine/box.
It has nothing to do with the suspension/pump.
The noise when steering at lock is probably the HP pump belt slipping - the belt MUST be *scaringly* tight !
- or the belt may simply need replacing - it must not be allowed to run in the bottom of the V-grooves on it's wheels.
