The above vehicle is my van but there is also a 2.5dci with 120bhp and a 2.5dci with 150bhp, now does anyone know the difference between the three engines and more importantly how the 100 is limited? is it down to boost levels, ecu prgrammed fueling??????? intake restrictor
Any thoughts welcome, ive not seen a 120 or 150 bhp version so i would nt know if its obvious either.
The difference between the 120 and 150 is that the 150 gets a variable geometry turbo versus a fixed one. I'm not sure on the other details, but I bet Renault have done a similar thing as the 1.5 DCI engines. They vary as follows:
£20 says it's a similar story with the 2.5. If you're looking for more power, I would imagine it would respond well to a remap. Does yours have an intercooler? If not, might be worth fitting one prior to remap?
'96 405 1.6 GLX with 306 GTI engine on Cat cams @ 195bhp
seems interesting but 100bhp isnt much to come out of a 2.5 TD engine........
Mine does have an intercooler although it is a bit um small.....and it is a fixed geo Turbo too.
All i was thinking is if its something simple then i may up the power to give better economy, its always heavily loaded and takes a bit of winding up sometimes and the extra power would make it nicer to drive.
Specs on the web suggest the 100bhp model isnt at all good on juice if it runs loaded all the time so i may possibly get better mpg too if im gentle with the right foot.
