advertised as fitting a Xantia (I have omitted some details to make it interesting).

It's a secondary air injection pump fitted to some petrol models used to pump air into the exhaust manifold when the engine is cold to make catalyst heat up quicker. Cant think off hand if i've ever seen one fitted to any xantia models right enough.

To prevent excess 'rich' mixture during warm up entering the cat.
