New C5 climate problem..it's cold!!

Unread post by lucklesspedestrian »

Hi there

I've had the new 2007 facelift C5 1.6 HDi VTR for about a week now and seem to have encountered my first problem, and it's the wrong weather for it!

Basically, no matter what I do the drivers side vents will only blow cold (very cold!) air, whilst the passenger side vents work normally (i.e. will blow hot) . The car of course has the dual zone system and I've tried adjusting both manually and then setting the system so that one control operates both sides but to no avail. I've tried turning the air con off and on again, obviously turning off the ignition and starting the car again, obviously I've made sure both sides are showing MAX temp.

Does it sound like I've missed anything obvious or is it time for me to utilise my 12 month citroen used warranty and call the dealer?

Thanks
Steve

I believe that there is a common fault on C5's of one of the temperature sensors behind the dash going duff, looks like warranty time to me!

hmm...

did a quick google and a suggested solution was to disconnect the battery for a few mins.

Tried that (love the little clip things btw!) and hey presto problems solved!
Obviously I'll keep an eye on it and if the problem reoccurs I'll take it in under warranty.

Now, how to reset the bleedin' clock...???

I think there is only one temp sensor, on the passanger side. In facelift ones it has a moisture sensor in there too.

I can't quite work ou what the C5 does with the one interior temp measurement to get two different temps on each side. Does it assume that if the temp is one thing, then a certain amount of blowing in different palces with war,/cold air will generate the desired temp for the other occupant?

The clock is in the 'menu, go in there and vehicle settings, adjust time and date, its quite easy.

Rats!

Fix didn't last, have to book it in to the dealers tomorrow.

Not good after 8 days ownership, hopefully not an omen of things to come!

Ah thats a shame, still its not a difficult fix and you have use of your warranty too. Hopefully it will be fault free for a good while!
