Synergie front wheel bearing replacement

Unread post by bigblackfalco »

My sister has a Fiat Ulysse which is basically the same car as the Citroen Synergie.
The front O/S wheel bearing needs replacing. How much of a pain is it to change.
Also does anyone know the bearing size/code please?
cheers.

There's some discussion about buying wheel bearings in the thread below. It's not for the same car, but may be useful information.

I found on my 806 that the hub nut was a different size to normal Peugeot/Citroens.
Also when I did find a socket of the right size I had to slim it down with an angle grinder before it would fit inside the recess.

You will find the 806 different to PSA, as the 806 is actually a Fiat design... same as the Van deparment.. All PSA vans are actually Fiat designs!

They just get fitted with the best of each, that being DERV's PSA engines, and Petrols which ever company they come from.

Badge engineering I think they call it, the British tried it in the 70's and 80's with great failiure!

It's a different part no to the 'std' Cit bearing. Eurocarparts list a cheap bearing at c£30 and an SNR at c£50 - given the short life of the cheap bearings I've had in our Picasso, I'd go with the expensive one. No idea on changing it!

OK I've been put off doing this one ... asked a colleague who has an 806, he said he'd done both fwb's and they wern't easy; the ball joint is a pain to separate and then bearings require a press as they are uber tight.
Out of my scope!
Cheers anyway chaps :)
