2ltr hdi c5 05 plate help will not start

Post by trinity060 »

please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after a successful cam-belt and water pump change the car ran beautifully did 20 miles or so then stood 4 a week, started first time and ticked over great, wot happened next was that the engine ran erratically and stalled, we noticed that the bottom pulley on the crankshaft had become loose and sent metal fillings everywhere.
we were advised to replace the pulley, magnetic ring and sensor after cleaning it had failed to make any difference to it starting.
these new parts have not solved the problem.
PLEASE IF ANY1 CAN HHHEEELLLPPP.........................

First check has got to the cam timing - possibly disrupted by frgaments from the pulley. If that checks out OK, then could be low P pump in the tank - try giving it a whacking underneath whilst cranking it. After that you will need to get it on a diag machine to see what's going on.

Bad luck....

SERIOUSLY!

Check the Fly wheel sensor, and remove and clean it up! These really can work one moment then not the next!

Ahh the cheaper of the failiures... These pumps arent that badly priced now on the Bay...

Nice easy ish job to do, infact, probably the easyest of the failiure items to go...
