brake light on continuously

i have a 2004 megane scenic 1.9dci, the brake lights are now on continuously.

any suggestions as to why this is happening? checked the bulbs and they seem to be fine. is this a wiring issue? or a faulty contact on the brakes?

Possibly the brake lights switch. Not sure where that is on a Megane though.

how do i find the brake switch? looked around down by the pedals and can't see it, or if i can it is not obvious?

It is more likely to be on the passenger side in the footwell.
