Xantia Estate Fault code 512

Post by NAM »

Hi All

Just had to pay a trip to the local auto electric chap as I have a passenger airbag light on. He read the codes and two came up with errors: 512 and 615. :(

Apparantly 615 just tells him that the light is on but 512 is the main one. He mentioned squib and steering wheel and ribbons. Anyone with similar experience? I was hoping for wire under the seat!

That's the most common cause. Give it a disconnect and re-connect and see if it makes a difference. If it does, consider having the connectors replaced by a better type (or soldered together if you're not planning on seat removal in the future).

Thanks Mike - I'll see what happens during the MOT (Tuesday 4th Jan) and if a cleanish bill of health I'll see if I can cure these lights once and for all - starting with connectors under the seats.

I dopily forgot to add the caution about fiddling with airbag electrics. Without knowing a better method, I would advise you disconnect the battery earth terminal and wait 10 minutes for any residual current to discharge before playing with the connectors.

Also be aware this means the stock radio will need it's code re-entering once power is re-applied.
