lhm fluid

made by Total? green?

can anyone shed some light on a) what i've happily been topping up my car with and b) if it's wrecked it?

Never owned a citroen before and had only a vague notion that the suspension was a bit different, told by previous custodian that the bottle of oil in the door was for the suspension. now fairly certain it isn't. it is made by total and specifically for citroens but it is a very pale yellow, car is an auto so possibly gearboxoil??

off to gsf for hydraflush.

- should add the bottle isn't with me at the mo' otherwis i'd google.

All depends on the exact product it was ? Very early Cits used a totally different fluid which is not compatible with newer models. As far as I know the correct LHM fluid for current Cits is all green. when Green LHM deteriorates in use it does turn a sort of yellow, takes a while though.

The wrong fluid will wreck the hydraulic system on newer Cits.

Isnt LDS Pale yellow? thats what it sounds like anyway, its not a good idea to run it on that stuff as its hygroscopic like brake fluid.

car is a '95 xantia if that helps and the stuff is called br1.nettoyant pare-chocs boudiers resine sodimac.

possibly Le hydraflush?

It's better that you don't add that stuff anymore into the LHM tank.

Buy this

and that might help to clean the system thoroughly.
Drive about 2k-3k miles with it.

Edit: As Xac said it seems to be bumper cleaner.

Don't forget to bleed the brakes thoroughly when you do the hydroflush.

As I mentioned elsewhere, Hydraflush has been discontinued by Total. This will possibly make it harder to find some.

provided i can get some from gsf tomorrow...
wheels off, axle stand under hub to pressurise the system and just bleed each caliper in turn until the hydraflush comes out?

if gsf no longer stock do i just put lhm back in?

If you pull out the ABS fuse, it's easier to bleed the brakes on a Xantia - there is no sensing of whether the wheel is turning or not.

I would suggest either removing the reservoir to rinse, or siphoning it, too.

Adam, have you had problems with the ABS kicking in when the car is stationary?
