Dashboard lamps S1 Xantia

Post by Stepto1 »

Ok, needed to remove the steering wheel as wheel alignment had left it wonky. While it was off, I thought i'd have a go at the fuel gauge lamp that has been out since a got the car. After alot of swearing and shouting, I got to the lamps, only to find that whatever lamp I put in the holder would not come on. Swapped a few around and no joy. Put it all back together and now the engine temp gauge does not light and the push button for the rear electric window isolating switch does not light up! Wish I'd left well alone now! Still, steering wheel is no straight and I found a jet wash token in the dash!

You SHOULD find the Switch's have a Coloured BLOB on them, this correspondes with the correct plug that should plug into it..

Also, if you look at the plug, the connector configuration should also corresponde with the Switch, to help give you a clue..

But, yes, the wheel has to come off, to get the shrouds off, to get the centre panel with the switch's in them out...

Was looking for tips on replacing dash bulbs and finally found this post. So for 98 Xantia the steering wheel has to come off? then removal of shrouds to get to bulbs? What is correct size of bulb?

98 S2 Xantia, the shrouds will come of WITHOUT needing to remove the wheel!!

ONLY S1 cars need the steering wheel taking off...

OR If you like, if your horn is ON the steering wheel, then the steering can stay in place and you can remove the shrouds without disturbing the wheel!
