Xantia Diesel Pipe (By rear wheel) - R reg

Post by gadgetgricey »

Not going to go into any detail, but did this earlier.

Which meant I needed to change the wheel, comedy of errors as in a deep snow, getting dark, locking wheel nut would not fit (I'll remember to remove the cover next time), and car is half on, half off the kerb.

Basically because I was not paying attention, started to jack the car up in the wrong position and I think have damaged the diesel supply pipe. Realised and repositioned the jack, but the damage was done.

Its only a drip, but will need to be replaced.

Just wondered how easy a job I have in front of me when the snow goes. Can it be repaired somehow (Doubt It), or is it just going to be a replacement.

Thanks again for any advice.

Hi Dave

What I would do is fit a length of rubber pipe in place of the damaged section, there is little or no pressure on it unless its an HDI. Find a pipe that's a push fit and secure it with a couple of jubilee clips.

Its NOT as bad job to fit the Filler pipes on these....

Wheel off, remove the upper cover, undo the 3 trox screws inside the filler flap, and remove the hose clips on the tank...

manuplate the pipes out.

I know this, from a recent petrol to DERV conversion, and had to do the filler pipe...

Its not a very hard job to do...

Thanks Peter.

Thanks Paul.

Using my other purchase for the moment (2.1D Xantia, so in no rush. Going to wait till all the snow goes at least)

Cheers Both
