98 Citroen Xantia radio code, where do i get it from?

Unread post by VolksKid83 »

So, quite simply the radio packed up in the xantia a while ago, i sourced an identical radio out of a xantia at the breakers, however searched this car and could not find a code. :x

I've been looking at internet websites that can supply the code using the serial number of the radio. However since there are so many and they all charge around £10 i want to get it right first time.

I thought about trying the citroen dealership, however thought i'd try this first.

Doubt it makes any difference, but still, it's made by blaupunkt and it's the one with jack to plug in a cd player/mp3 etc.

So any recommendations for websites that can source the code would be greatly appreciated. :D

Thankyou,
Mat 8-)

I think you'll find if you goto a citroen dealer they can only supply the code for your cars original radio, if you had the relevent details from the car you took the radio out of then they MIGHT be able to look that one up too (you will need at least it's chassis number) . if i were you I'd be looking for a reputable car audio specialist and simply get then to re-code it for you rather than trying to trace it's original code. When we got a radio which needed a new code we sent ours away to a specialist & for a small charge they re-coded them. (inc' supplying us and the owner with the new code).
Music keeps me going.

Is it a MK1? I think so, given, Blaupunkt. If so these can be decoded from serial no as per link above. Mk2 Clarions, AIUI cannot be decoded from serial number, so are effectively scrap if the code is not known....

Not quite - it is possible for the code to be read from the chip inside the unit - I had this done recently by a car audio specialist when I got a clarion cd player on ebay. Wasn't expensive either.

sorry for the extremely late reply

unfortunately the code did not work, however i noticed a small label on the stereo from a stereo shop, so guessing the code was changed.

I then tried the original stereo which lit up! but the code did not work in this either. :( So that solved that, was going to try and find another stereo but unfortunately had to sell the car.

Thanks for the help though chaps :)
