I wonder how many Xantia 'sinkers' are left?

Post by colski »

Being the owner of one myself i'm starting to wonder how rare these cars are now?

For those who are not sure what a 'sinker' is, its the early K and L reg ones with chevrons on the bonnet.

These cars sink right down to there lowest setting after a few hours due to the fact they have no anti-sink valve (although not all L platers were sinkers, but I think most were)

I haven't seen one for AGES on the road.

Any Xantia sinker owners out there? Anyone seen one recently?

I'm an ex-sinker owner. Sold it about two years ago now.

I know there is a 1.9TD sinker in silver at my works garage, it was out with the bonnet up during the summer when i got my new van but now its sat in the corner looking sorry for itself.

I use to see a white one parked in a driveway on my way to work but haven't seen it for a couple of months now.

I bet there is one out there still with its first owner and really low mileage with immaculate bodywork :D

I see someone from here in his white VSX sinker every so often, Dave Withington. Saw him at the weekend driving out of a new Tesco in Hanley, Stoke. I was in my white R reg (anti sink.. doh!) VSX. Apart from the age difference they look identical!

Can't go anywhere Dommo!

Had it washed on Sunday - it glows in the dark now.

For those who haven't seen it before, here's a link to Flickr

Done a lot of work on the front suspension, wishbones, drop links, bottom ball joints and strut tops. Start on the back end next

Lovely cars, quick enough, comfy and reasonable on fuel.

It looks a damn sight cleaner than mine Dave. Looks like someone has cleaned mine with a wire brush in the past! Which is a shame..

Dean, are those old Datsuns?

Certainly not the stock 280ZX the registration lookup infers!

It's a kit car based on the 280Z.
