Xantia stock stereo replacement

Post by ellsy66 »

I just bought 2000 xantia, very nice car i might add, my first citroen!! Pleasantly surprised by the way it drives and how comfortable it is!!

One problem i realised when i looked at the centre console was that putting my stereo in place of the stock one could be a problem.
I understand that I need a facia adaptor to go inplace of the old but my main problem is that i want an iso lead that has steering wheel controls capability, anyone know if i can by this all as one or do i have to buy a patch lead?? Whatever that is?

I you go here http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/connects ... -8940.html

it asks if you need a patch lead, would i?

Cheers!

Yes you would.

That adapter goes between the head unit and the car loom and the patch lead plugs into the black box on that adapter and then into the head unit.

Patch leads are make specific, also check you actually have the means to connect the patch lead to your head unit. Some do not support steering control interfaces.

I don't think you need a facia plate on a MK2 (I didn't on my early 2001 car) as the OE head unit is std DIN size. I fitted a Kenwood, which works OK with the steering wheel controls - although the interface box and all the wiring is a bit of a challenge to stuff back in the hole with the radio - and it cost nearly as much as the radio! The remote did stop working for a while, but a period with the battery off seems to have fixed that!
