Peugeot 307 110 Intermittent turbo

Post by kaostheory »

307 Hdi 110 02 plate

It has been having problems with intermittent turbo for a while now, I solved the problem temporarily by replacing the turbo boost solenoid but now its back again. Also when the MAF is connected the revs are limited as if there is a blockage. Engine management and esp warning comes on randomly aswell.

What else can I look at to solve this problem.

I will plug planet in tomorrow and get some codes and live data and post here.

I have just paid £500 for a clutch and solid flywheel so I'm hoping its nothing hugely expensive.

Thanks in advance

If plugging the MAF in reduces power, I would suggest a new one (pattern ones are of variable quality unfortunately)

A quick diag session might be an option first, but if I had to take a wild guess or had no diag I would see about a new MAF, although it sounds as though its going into limp-home mode, the warning lights partly confirm that.

Worth a quick look at the vacuum pipes around the solenoids (if fitted) on the bulkhead.

A diag session would be the next step if you have a good MAF

Update:

In the freezing cold snow today got under the car and found a broken wire to the turbo pressure control solenoid. Will be getting a new connector for this tomorrow if possible but have connected it up for now and all fault codes are gone also one of the vacuum pipes was off and seems rather loose fitted.

BUT...

When revving it is restricted and "bounces" at around 2.5k revs like would expect from a car hitting a rev limiter, but no codes and no EML didn't get around to reading live data, I couldn't feel my toes any more.

Can anyone suggest any further common tests i can perform to narrow down the cause.

Might be an idea to try a 'BSI reset', as below..........

Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off.

Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition.

Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds.

Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.).

Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.

Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality.

Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.

Remove key open & close door test central locking system.

Start the engine and complete the system's check.

Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many BSI related items.

find where the EGR pipe joins the inlet manifold
put a plate between the two (with two holes for the bolts to go through)
no more EGR
on the 8V engines it's a bit fiddly due to the location of the two bolts though
