They're electric but there's no actual pump, it's all done by BSI controlled jiggerpokerery, try revving one up to do an emissions test during an MOT & every now & then you'll get one that spits it's dummy out as it's confused as to why the engine is revving so high but the car's not moving, this results in the 'power steering' shutting down.
Music keeps me going.

Anyone know how the electric PAS and electric clutches work?
One of the girls has it in her Grande Punto but never investigated it.

Do you mean the semi automatic transmissions, like Citroens sensodrive? A manual gearbox and clutch but with an automated clutch operation. Id like to know how that works, our 1007 is a sensodrive, it does overcome some dislikes i have with genuine autos, but it does introduce some new ones.

No - hers has a standard clutch pedal and from the driver's point of view it is just a normal manual. I've driven it a few times and there is nothing tangible to differentiate it from bog standard clutch/steering.
