Is there no power through the whole rev range, or just at the top end?

Re: RENAULT SCENIC II 1.9 DCI NO POWER 1ST AND 2ND GEAR??
hi, could do with some more info on this, but the most likely cause is, EGR valve or airflow metre, if its the turbo chances are it would smoke a lot and would affect the revs through all gears, the turbo has no idea what gear your in so would affect all gears/power as your driving! hope this helps,,gazzas c5 wrote:hi there is no power on my scenic with 1st and 2nd gear what do you think is up with it?cheers its a 1.9 dci privilege 54 reg thanks

Yes, i would say MAF or EGR, both are known problems on the 1.9DCi. A faulty EGR can lead to turbo failure on that engine, so i hear.

not heard of EGR causing turbo failure as it only recurculates exhaust back through the engine! if though the vehicle has done 80k or more chances are the turbo is on its way out anyway!Citroenmad wrote:Yes, i would say MAF or EGR, both are known problems on the 1.9DCi. Going by the Renault forums threads that is what can happen, due to excess heat. Though it does seem unlikely to me. One thing which is recommended on there is to keep the EGR clean.
80K, you will be lucky! Turbos and engines have been known to fail way before then with those engines. Shame, though some do go on for longer without problems.

At least they are not all bad then, I know of quite a few 1.9 Renaults which have needed new engines for various reasons. Its a real shame as the cars are excellent, i really like Renaults. If the 1.9DCI seemed like a more reliable proposition then id probably have a Laguna II now, and we would still have our Scenic II.antz wrote: thats true but its usaly down to poor maintanance! the f9q aint a bad engine its just people dont look after them!
