Chaps,
What sort of MPG could I expect from a P reg. 2.0ltr automatic Laguna?
Thanks

Not owned one, but autotrader has the following data.
Urban 23mpg
Extra urban 44.2mpg
Combined 35.3mpg
Not sure how accurate these figures are and I imagine that they were gained when the car was new.
Hope this helps.

For a reasonable large car with a 2.0 petrol and auto box it must be somewhere between 30-35?
What are you getting with it?

Thanks Chaps,
Just an enquiry at this stage, currently looking at a range of cars for the wife. This one has 55k on the clock, FSH, met dark red ( nice ) and that rather horrible impressionist-styly multi-colour seat fabric that was popular back in the 90's ( not so nice ). As her mileage tends to be limited to a 15mile hack to and from work, the engine will never really get up to full temperature so mpg is something that needs to be considered.
I must say that 30 - 35 from a 2ltr + auto box doesn't sound too bad.

Our Xm 2.0 auto would do similar MPG, so i would think around that from a Laguna, though obviously different engine and box but it will probably be around there.
A petrol car warms through faster than a diesel, so within 15 mile it will have reached full running temp, or near enough.
Does it need to be an auto?
Id be tempted to look at Peugeot 406s, great cars. What about a HDI?

If Wikipedia is right, the Languna 2.0 16v uses a variant of Renault's F4R engine. This is the same as found in my Clio, albeit the Laguna is detuned to 139bhp. With some care, I can consistently return 44mpg on my daily 20 mile commute, which is a mix of dual carriage way and town driving. However push even a little bit hard and that will drop a lot. Obviously this will vary depending on the weight and gearing of your Languna.
On the plus side, the F4R is a bomb proof engine and shouldn't give you any trouble. Just make sure the accessory belt has been done, as it will take the cam belt with it in event of failure.

Im pretty sure our old Renault RX4 had that 2.0 16v engine, with that car it would return around 30MPG at best, but it was 4 wheel drive. Around town our Xm 2.0 auto would do about 20MPG. 30ishMPG on average with mixed driving.
