Face Lifted 2005 + 2.2 C5

Does anybody know if the post facelift 2.2 (138 bhp) auto's had the 4 speed 4HP20 or the Aisin 6 speed box like the 2.0 ltrs?

At A guess - I dont know for sure, I would have thought the 4 speed would have been dropped across the range and switched to 6 speed...

Whats this, a shift from ZF? Or is it ZF's name for the next Generation box

The 2005 (55 plate) Exclusive I had was definately a 4 speed auto

I dont think the 2.2 136 ever got the 6 speed auto box, it will be a 4 speed.

Right - I was guessing, so, Ok, 4 speed ZF it is then..

Ah! well, looks like the consensus is 4 speed which is what I suspected. Bit of a bummer seen a nice 2005 2.2 Exclusive Auto, I'd take the engine even though it's not the most economical but not mated to a 4HP20 which I don't believe Citroen ever sorted properly.

Ah right, so ZF are being ditched.... is that because of their wonderfull failiure rate I wonder...

Shouldn't think so suspect that cost has more to do with it :-)

I don't really know but I suspect that ZF are no worse than any other manufacturer seems to me that providing the oil is changed regularly and they are not abused by heavy towing they last as well as anything else, certainly they generally last their design life and then some.

Ive no bad hardship about ZF's box's, Ive a Turbo Onyx XM with 169k on original box, and its still smooth, my matealso has a TD 2.1 XM with auto box, probably on 200k now, with a comprehensive history, and pleanty of fluid changes, but nothing sugesting a box change, so can only assume orginal box...

The key IS Fluid changes, mechanical stuff cannot survive without fresh fluids and oils... These "Sealed for Life Box's" are balls.... they just want us to change cars more frequently... besides, sealed for life?? Whats the life expectency... 100k? 200k?? 60k??
