Xantia window problem

Hi
In my 2001 xantia the front left (LH drive) window mechanism facing a problem. the window fell down (into the door). I guess that the problem is with the "drum" that spools the cable, since the cable is not torn and the motor is working when I press the window switch. does anyone knows what is the route of the cable? assuming that it can be fixed, or do I have to replace the whole mechanism?

It is generally the little clip that secures the cable to the glass that breaks.
I believe that you can get replacements from the dealer but there are two versions so you need to identify which one you need before ordering.

As far as I could see, the cable itself is in tact. ordering a clip as myglaren suggests is not a problem. the problem (as I see it) is to put it back together. are there somewhere any pics or drawings that describe how it has to be?

There are a few threads dealing with reconstructing it.
It does appear though that the part may only be available as a whole assembly, so a scrapyard may offer better value.

When mine went, the clip hadn't broken it had just worn out-the little prongs on it had lost their spring, so it wouldn't stay in. I re-fitted it and put a bolt through the middle to press them outwards, and it worked fine.

Thanks guys for all the answers. what I did , in the meantime, I've raised the glass and put a stick under it in order to keep it closed. now I'll take out the regulator and try to fix it.

I had a similar problem with my 1999 Xantia, the regulators on these later Xantia's are different from earlier ones, when my window dropped the plastic clip snapped. Unfortunately the clip cannot be bought separately so a whole new assembly was required.
