Post by Lancaster-c5 »

Hi All.
I been trying to find the link to a topic about getting to the rear
spark plugs on a Xantia V6.
Could someone please help me find it.
Thanks H.

Hopefully I don't get shot down for linking to another forum but they share the same engine so this should help.

Don't know what link you're referring to but in a nutshell you need to remove the inlet manifold (new gasket required just a few £ from a dealer) to gain access, here's a photo of what you'll see when the manifold is removed.

That link doesn't work for me Toby, it states I need to be a member to view it.

Ah bugger, forgot about that. Was a step by step guide showing spark plug renewal on the ES9J4.

Oh well, as you said Richard, inlet manifold off to get to them.

Just being pedantic here but there is no need to remove the throttle body itself from the inlet manifold when listing it. Provided you disconnect the wiring, the throttle cable and the breather pipe that goes into the concertina, it will lift off fine.

Be aware that there are two more bolts at the rear of the manifold that attach the lifting eyes to the manifold.

You need a long socket or box spanner to remove the plugs and if they have not been out in a while, they can be tight so go gently. It helps if the engine is warm and a tad of Plus Gas is sprayed down the wells. Use an air line to blow any debris out of the bottoms of the plug wells before you start.

The front plug wells may have a smidge of oil in them. The worst is always the one nearest the oil filler due to spills when topping up and so on.

A new gasket is essential. Part No. 0348 K7

Take care not to damage the cruise control bellows and ensure the wiring loom behind it is completely clear of the bellows on reassembly.
