My first citroen

Unread post by Jaspwieser »

After buying a xantia 2.0 hdi lx this week , I have just taken a 400 mile trip.
It's fab on the motorway crusing at around 3000 rpm in fifth seems to be the smoothest, I will let you guess the speed.
A bit bouncy but some new spheres and a service I hope will cure this.

The speed will depend of its a 90 or a 110bhp

110bhp 3k is an indicated 90mph, but I think in the 90bhp with the older BE gearbox is not far off older XUD speed at 3k, that being around 82mph...

Welcome to the flock Jasp,

You should find these cars reliable and an all round great car for all sorts of trips.

Keep the coolant correct with antifreeze to avoid head gasket and matrix problems and all the other mechanicals in good nick and enjoy the ride :)

The best bit of Citroen advice often banded around is keep on top of maintenance and get things fixed as soon as you know there is a problem. This avoids bigger costs down the road.

Happy trails

Ok so I wimped out and have taken the beast to a Indy Citroën garage.
The very nice man has found pond water for cooling fluid, a leaking ride height thingie and the front spheres needs changing.
On the plus side he thought I have bought a good car..
What a nice man, holding my breath for the bill thou.
