Hi all
I guess that I have to replace the rear oil seal on my xant, since there is an oil leak that I suspect is from the rear oil seal. did any of you, members, carried out by yourselfs such a task, and if so, how difficult is it? if you are willing to drop some advices - they will be very welcomed.

If it is the same oil seal (90 mm) leaking then be prepared for several hours of work until you reach the seal.
Gearbox down, clutch assembly and fly wheel off ...
I just checked from ebay: Xantia Crankshaft Oil Seal Large Flywheel End --> £10.00
I would suggest that you change also
1. transmission oil. If it's manual gearbox 2 liters of Total BV 75W80.
2. gearbox oil seal, another £10.00

Hi atr, I don't have the equipment and also I didn't have the 'knowledge' then for this job
My friend's father owns a garage and have taken my Xantia there.
He has not dealed with Xantias before and I was there for the 'technical support' actually trying to make
him believe that green blooded cars are nothing to be afraid of .
The car was on the lift. Can this job be done on ramps , may be not since front tyre must be removed.
Gearbox is heavy to handle for one person. I'm sure he would have managed without my help also.
We used hydraulic support, which is also commonly used during exhaust pipe replacement.
When the car was put together again, it was a seven hours job including lunch and coffee breaks
I hope this helps a bit.
