Wimped Out

Unread post by Gregg1100 »

I own up. Yes, I am the one who has wimped out and HAD the clutch changed by a garage. My head tells me I can do the job, but forgot to tell my body. . £140 + the cost of a clutch. Just got to do the o/s/r abs lead then all hunky dory again. Caravan now sold, so this xantia won't be far behind. I will offer it here before I advertise it elsewhere.

Don't be embarrassed Greg :)

I wimped out of a CV boot on my daughter's 206 last weekend...

Made up for it this evening though... The spanners have been flying good and proper :D

Why have you wimped out? Id not like to do a clutch change, I could but it would take me forever.

£140 to fit a clutch is very very cheap!

I guess im a wimp, as for bigger jobs i do put my car into a garage - the only one i trust! Got them to do my cambelt and w/pump recently. Though ive just picked up the Xm from having new pads, discs and handbrake cables yesterday - lazy i know! Usually do those myself. Time is of an issue at the moment, so we can all be forgiven

£140 IS cheap. I was quoted almost twice that plus parts for my C15 - although that included towing. But even at £140, I'd see an opportunity (or excuse) to buy some new tools. :D

I was quoted nearly £1000 for an XM clutch job, I have done one myself but it took me the best part of a week - not working all the time of course.

Thanks for the support. As some of you know, I served my time in a garage, which made it all the harder to put my car in one for what was years ago a doddle of a job. I got hacked off with getting wet this week, getting back to yard at past 2 pm on the morming, only to find it hissing it down when I got back into Wales;-so was glad when car was ok..
