key reprograming

Hi I've just recieved the second key for my wifes car from the previous owner . They did'nt pass it on to the auction as it was faulty. The car is a 307 1.6 hdi SW the key opens and locks the doors but won't start the car , How can I get this working again and how much is it likely to cost me .Regards John .

I got a new key for our Peugeot through the dealers, the cost of the key was steep but the programming was about £30.
