Automatic gearbox Kangoo
My Kangoo autobox has taken to dropping into third gear with a bang and staying there until the ignition is turned off and on again, after which it behaves normally again for a while. No lights on the dash. Anyone have an idea if this is fixable or is it a box replacement?

Re: Automatic gearbox Kangoo
it will be the EVM valve in the hydrolic unit at the front of the gearbox, its quite a tricky job to do and requires speacial tooling, plus a possable reprogramme, i think renault charge about 4hours plus the part , hope this helps,Stempy wrote:My Kangoo autobox has taken to dropping into third gear with a bang and staying there until the ignition is turned off and on again, after which it behaves normally again for a while. Thanks for the advice. Doesn't sound like a job for the home mechanic then

Hi from Ozsraya stempy.
That sounds about right. Does it only play up when cold, first thing in the morning? Son's 2003 Clio 1.4 auto had the same problem. All is correct, I don't think you need any special tools but the reset is paramount(so best to get at least an off dealer specialist to do the work) as the new solenoid will have a different batch number to the OEM fitted one and won't be recognized by the ECU. Clio was transformed into totally different car after the replacement. It changes better in all gears and behaves as a predictive auto should.

It's totally random when it happens but it does seem to be getting more frequent so will need sorting out. I will have to get a few quotes for the work now I know it's fixable. It's currently showing 93,000 miles so maybe not worth the cost of a whole new box.

Finally got this sorted. Took it to a main dealer who replaced the hydraulic distributor. Cost me a cool £997 though
