I haven't posted for awhile but here's an update/story on Synergy I had fitted around the end of September.
Well I have now had the Synergy Tuning box on my car for a few weeks and had the chance to give it a good MPG test on a recent run up to Cornwall.
I can say it really does make a difference to the feel of the car and I did an acceleration test which showed a marked improvement on previous test done.
I'm still to test it on setting 9 but setting 6 gave these improvements on the stopwatch :
30-50 mph in 5th gear :
standard a slow 25 seconds ( would like someone else to tell me if this is about right as so slow!)
with box a much more reasonable 14.4 seconds
50 -70 mph in 5th gear
standard 11.5 seconds
with box it improved to 9.8 seconds.
Most of the tests in 4th gear improved the times by around 1 second
which mainly improves throttle response and removed the turbo lag a fair bit.
Putting it on setting 9 did improve it more than on setting 6
so I will definately have to do some more overtaking comparison tests.
The engine now feels silky smooth and doesn't seem to dip like it used to when changing gears.
AND I have now got rid of the poor clutch/throttle biting point feel as I had to rev the car a fair bit to get away smoothly without bogging down as such,This on its own for me proved worthy to buy the tuning box for.
MPG :
After setting an average of 42 mpg on my previous run without the Synergy fitted upto nottinghamshire I thought I'd go into Eco mode but with the box set on setting 9 just to see how it would do.
Well with the car being refuelled to the brim and the trip computer reset I headed off from London at around 6am and watched the trip computer quickly rise to 41 mpg before getting caught in 30 minutes of traffic trying to get over the appley named Kew Bridge,This brought my Trip reading down to 36 mpg which I was not that happy about!
I persisted and found out what the problem was about a mile up which turned out to be a broken down fair or circus lorry actually on the bridge. Once that was past all was plain sailing and I sat in the slow lane at around 50-55mph enjoying my music and scenery to be had in the area.
By the time I was up to around Exeter I was getting a reading of 61.2 mpg.
It did dropped slightly to 59.8mpg by the time I arrived at Newquay some 285 miles and 6 hours and 20 minutes later.
I came back home abit quicker at an average of 60-65mph on the clock and saw the average MPG drop to 57.7mpg by the time I was back on the A205 around the Sheen area.
I've yet to refill and have now covered around 615 miles as done a few local journeys since coming back and my fuel guage is showing just under 1/4 tank and computer reporting around 140 miles of fuel left and an average of 56.5 mpg has been done.
I did note on my last refill that putting the tuning box on had actually made trip computer more accurate for me as it reported I had done 33.6 mpg but i had actually got 34mpg from my brim testing it.
Unfortunately I haven't got £60+ to brim my car again so close to Christmas so will have take the trip computer to be accurate enough.
I atleast now know its possible to get a true 60mpg from my car which is outstanding considering the size of it and better than i thought it would do.
Maybe putting both ZX1 extralube and the tuning box on has improved MPG.
I know it sure has improved the feel of the car and I recommend both upgrades
