LEXIA Problem....

Post by citroenxm »

Hi Lexia Uers..

My post is pointin towards Chineese users with a Laptop Install...

All of a sudden, my Lexia App has stopped working...

What happens? I click on the Lexia App (Windows XP OS..) the Lexia window opens, and the messgae Currently Checking Interface Software Version... Please wait ... then the smaller Lexia Window comes up, then it goes..

Then after a moment, the Error report Window appears: Mozilla.exe in the Blue bar, then Mozilla.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Then carries on to say do I want to send microsoft a report....

The strange thing is, Fire fox is fine, Im useing it NOW, and it starts up fine as a Browser....

Any ideas???

Thanks
Paul

That all sounds a bit suspicous. Personally I have never got the Lexia software to run properly under XP anyway, I havn't dug into it as I am not a MS expert and don't normally use MS products so my solution was just to install Win2000 on the laptop I use for the car where it works fine. I can't see why it would should have anything to do with moz unless something has got corrupted and a problem with mozilla wanting to send microsoft an error report sounds a bit strange too.

Might be an idea to uninstall and re-install the Lexia s/w

Unlikely but I wonder if it has any connection with Register Report.

I'd unload Firefox (after running the uninstall wizard you must search for all remaining Mozilla and Firefox files and folders and blitz them before reinstalling) then reinstall.

I think that I have had the same problem. The lexia software uses a very old version of mozilla (it is not actually Firefox), and it may not be compatible with newer DLLs that have somehow got installed on your machine.

Right now I can't remember how I fixed it, but I did get it to work again.

To run an old version of FF with a newer version try

http://www.htmlcenter.com/blog/multiple ... -installs/

A very good explanation how to do this. However your Lexia may choose only yo launch the latest!

Another option is to install Sun/Oracle Virtual box and install your lexia software and the older version of FF in there. Its a bit of a resource hog but will happily hold different copies of Windows, Linux and so forth.

http://www.virtualbox.org/

I use it with Ubuntu when forced to use Windows software.

What I do NOT understand is though, why does it want FireFox???

Im not near a wireless point, and I haven't done any Lexia Updates, due to reading about Lexias stopping after an update, though mine has now, im no further..

Thanks for your advice so far guys!

Try uninstalling firefox and see what happens!

If that still doesn't work my next step would be to uninstall and reinstall the Lexia software.

I had to fire up my Lexia today, and I found that I had the same problem. After a bit of mucking about, I remembered the conclusion I came to last time.

This issue has nothing to do with Firefox. The error message about FF comes from the Java JRE, which has been updated, and finds the mozilla.exe that Lexia has installed, and assumes that it belongs to Firefox.

I have an old notebook PC which has not been updated for a couple of years, and Lexia runs fine on that. I tried rolling back JRE to the same version as on the old PC (v6u13), and that gets rid of the FF error message, but Lexia still throws an exception (I will try a re-install of Lexia next).

Hi ALL

I solved my problem too, in my current laptop, and I did this by performing a Lexia V45 RE-install... It re-installed over the old copy, and worked fine!

So Im up and running again now... Ive since the crash bought a Laptop to DEDICATE to lexia and Planet Peugeot, that wont get connect to the internet for updates..

Thanks for the replies and sugestions!
