hi, i bought a badly neglected berlingo last year as a stop gap work van with the intention of buying a better van later, but i kinda got to like it!
it has had a new cambelt, brakes all round, wishbones , exhaust , radiator, missing trim and many other bits. it was very slow when i got it but now seems to quite nippy up to 70, has a bit of an oil leak down the back of the engine and the door locks dont work, but i really like driving it!
so i wondered if you citroen experts could spare me your time.
has the engine loosened up? is that why it is faster now?
does it need new gaskets to stop the oil leak? only minor leak
how come my brakes still squeal when it has had new discs, pads and shoes? can i grease the brake workings to eliminate this?
it is a dw8 version
any help appreiciated.
1.9d berlingo

Oil leak at the rear of the engine is probably the rocker valve gasket, not to difficult to change.
On the performance side, the exhaust may be clogged if its been driven gently, give it a good blast at full throttle in low gear, it it chucks out loads of black 'smoke' its probably soot.
Brake squeal has little to do with wear, in fact they don't usually do it until they are bedded in, could be the anti squeal shims are missing.
