Looking for some advice really. Have a 97 (R) 306 1.9 TD LX and recently I've notice a dull knock coming from the nearside front when the steering is at or close to a left or right lock. The car also seems to drift left ever so slightly driving along the straight if I take hands off the wheel. Any suggestions as to what might be causing this?
I must admit to being fairly clueless myself but have had a few problems with both the local authorised Peugeot Dealers when getting repairs done before so am looking not to end up with unnecessary work done!
Thanks
Carly
306 1.9 TD LX Knocking noises

Not that I've noticed. The knocking also happens occasionally going over large bumps in the road, but is less pronounced than on turning. If left the wheel returns to a home position of slightly left of centre also.
The car also feels less stable than it did when turning, don't know if that's relevant or not!

My ZX 1.4i which is almost identical to the 306 but with a different body. Has recently started making a knocking noise when going over bumps in the road it seemed to occur after having the inner track rod ends replaced, the noise also seems to be coming from the front end of the car. But the two citroen specialists have said that its the rear subframe bushes that have gone.
Find a clear road and apply the handbrake while driving and see if you get a knock or two then.
