Xantia Handbrake Cable

Post by EDD »

A few months ago I fitted new front handbrake cables because one side had been worn through by the guide loop(strut)and the other side was going the same way,pig of a job. Shock ! failed Mot last week because offside cable was catching on tyre on right lock.I fastened cable tie to the handbrake cable (where it was kinking) and linked that to another which was loosely fastened to the drop link, all seem's well at the moment but I don't know how long it will last.Any advice or tips would be apprieciated.
EDD p.s Passed Mot.

This sound similar to the trouble I used to have with my old BX. The n/s brake cable touched the wheel when it was on lock. My solution was to use two zip ties. One tightened round the brake cable, but holding the second one. The second one pulled the cable away from the wheel, towards the guide loop.

Thank you for your reply John. Did you connect the second zip tie to the guide loop on the the body or was it too long ago to remember.HA HA.
